Speech-Language Services
At Children's Therapy Associates, we have an eclectic approach to speech-language therapy. Drawing from a number of approaches at any given time, our sessions are typically play-based, with activities chosen and modified to meet a particular child's needs. Sessions address specific, measurable and functional objectives which represent steps toward improved communication skills.
We see children with a range of difficulties and diagnoses. Our therapists are experienced in working with children whose presentations range from relatively straight forward articulation (pronunciation) challenges to those not yet using speech as their primary mode of communication. All of our therapists have experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well. Some of our therapists have additional specific areas of experience and interest including oral-motor, augmentative communication and feeding. Please refer to our Our Teampage to read about each individual clinician.
Range Of Services
- Treatment: We offer individual, dyad, co-treatment and group treatment. All sessions can be observed via two-way mirrors to facilitate greater understanding of the therapeutic process.
- Preliminary Visits are generally recommended prior to committing to a particular schedule and therapist. These 30-minute visits are complimentary and offer families an opportunity to meet with their therapist to discuss philosophies, approaches and priorities for goals and objectives.
- Individual treatment sessions are typically one-hour in length. 45-50 minutes are spent with the child with the remainder of the session dedicated to consultation with parents.
- Dyad sessions involve two children and one clinician. Dyads are only recommended when children are ready for a peer component to their therapy.
- Co-treatment sessions are typically co-led by an occupational therapist. The child works with both clinicians simultaneously through activities designed to meet goals and objectives in both disciplines. Please refer to our Co-treatmentpage for more information about this treatment model.
- Our speech-language pathologists also participate in leading, co-leading and consulting to a variety of groups. Please refer to our Social Adventures
Progress Notes are written on a regular basis to log your child's progress relative to specific goals and objectives at no additional charge. When appropriate, home programs are also provided as part of ongoing therapy.
Consultation: At CTA we are committed to collaborating with other professionals involved in the care of your child. To this end, we offer consulting services which include telephone contact, on-site consultation (to school or other therapeutic programs), attendance at IEP meetings, and the like.
